Machine grinding
The sharpening on tool grinding machines allows wet grinding, angular-precision grinding of spirally toothed tools. Flat grinding wheels are not advantageous, since they produce hollow grinding surfaces. Therefore, often are cup and plate grinding wheels are used. Compared with corundum and silicon carbide as abrasives, cost efficient grindings are produced by boron nitride for high-speed steel and diamond for hard metal tools.
